How Do We Test Online Casinos For RTP?
As mentioned above, our team tests every casino by depositing real money. But when it comes to the best payout casinos, we went a step further. We hired two programmers to create a tool that calculates the RTP of casinos.
In a nutshell, it works like this: It creates a list of all the games in a given casino, along with the RTP of each game. Then it calculates the casino’s average by dividing the number of games by the RTP. That’s how you get the final result. Later, we compared the average RTP of all 51 casinos and came up with the list above.
Of course, the payout percentage is the most important factor in the evaluation of a casino, but we also looked at other things like whether the bonus and its terms were okay, whether the casino paid out fast, and much more.
What Is RTP?
RTP (return to player) is calculated based on millions of hands/spins and shows how much you can win by playing a particular game over the long term. For example, if a game or casino has a 97% RTP, it means that over millions of hands/spins/games, you will win $97 for every $100. (or more like you lose $3)
That $3 difference is the famous house edge. It’s the opposite of RTP, and it’s what the casino makes money on. So the lower the RTP of a given game, the more the casino makes.
Keep in mind, however, that RTP refers to an abstract number of a million games and does not necessarily apply to a single session.
What Is A Good RTP?
There is no general answer to this because it all depends on the game. For example, in Blackjack or Baccarat, most titles have an RTP around 99%, so basically anything above 99% can be considered good.
With slots, the RTP varies much more depending on the game being played. There are slots with RTPs below 90% (which I recommend avoiding), as well as some titles like Netent’s Mega Joker with RTPs of 99%. The average for slots is around 95%, so in my opinion, anything above 97% can be considered very good.
Choose Only Audited Payout Percentages
It is very important to choose casinos that clearly state the RTP of all games on their website. The casino should be transparent about the RTP.
However, keep in mind that some casinos may inflate the RTP number, which is nothing more than cheating. For example, a game may actually have an RTP of 92%, and the casino may say it has an RTP of 97% in order to attract players to play the game.
Another problem is that even if a game has been tested by independent organizations, it was done many years ago, and the data is simply outdated. These examples are the exception, not the rule. But I want you to be aware of them.
Who Audits Payout Percentages in Online Casinos?
Remember to always choose casinos where the games are regularly audited by independent institutions. Avoid casinos that do not or will not provide payout percentages. Are they not transparent? Say goodbye to them.
There are several different companies that test and audit the games in online casinos. Here are the three most popular ones:
- eCogra: the most trusted organization in the world. If you see their logo on the casino website, it is a very good sign.
- Technical Systems Testing (TST): Another independent institution. They have been testing online casinos for years.
- Gaming Labs International: GLI is licensed in hundreds of territories. In business for many years.
Best Payout Pokies in Australian Casinos
Most casino players play pokies and they make up a large part of what online casinos have to offer. Depending on the casino, it can be between 70% and 80% of all games, so this is a really significant number.
The higher the RTP, the better for you. In general, you should choose pokies with an RTP above 97%. Our team has searched the internet for the highest payout pokies and here are our findings:

Best Payout Casino Games
Blackjack
Blackjack is a favorite of many players because of its high RTP and strategic elements. The goal is simple: beat the dealer without going over 21. In Blackjack, the house edge is really minimal. In fact, it is the only casino game where you can have an advantage over the casino (if you play offline and count cards).
Remember that even the slightest change in the rules can significantly reduce your RTP. In general, the more decks you have, the better off you are. However, you need to be very experienced to take advantage of this.
Baccarat
Baccarat is known for its straightforward gameplay. You bet on either the player or the banker, and the one with a hand value closest to 9 wins. The casino advantage here is also very minimal; most games have an RTP of around 99%, so really great. Favorite game of high rollers.
Video Poker
Video poker combines the thrill of poker with the simplicity of slots. Most titles pay back more than 99%, which is really awesome. Examples? Jacks or Better, Deuces Wild, or Aces and Eights.
If You Are Looking For The Best Payout Games, Consider These Software Providers
If you’re on the lookout for the best payout games, considering the software providers is a smart move. These companies produce high payout pokies and are known for being very transparent about their payout percentages. Take a look:
NetEnt
In business for over 20 years. Famous for pokies like Starburst and Gonzo’s Quest, NetEnt consistently offers games with competitive RTPs, often exceeding 99%. By the way, my favorite software provider.
Microgaming
A pioneer in the industry, Microgaming provides a diverse range of games, including roulette, blackjack, and pokies. Mega Moolah, a progressive slot, has made headlines for its massive payouts. The number of games created? More than 600.
Playtech
Another very popular software developer. Playtech is renowned for its Marvel-themed pokies and offers various games with RTPs that usually meet or exceed industry averages.
Evolution Gaming
If you’re into live dealer games, Evolution Gaming dominates this space. While not traditional pokies, their live games, like Lightning Roulette, offer unique and engaging experiences.
