Hey! I’m Dan James, and I handle everything from content writing to quality assurance at Casino Owls. I’ve been in the online gambling industry since 2015 and also worked as a poker pro for seven years before that. My humble professional is that I’m somewhat of a gambling pro, or at least an industry dinosaur.
I specialize in creating content, reviewing its quality, and testing casinos on the Canadian market, where I’d led content initiatives previously for online casinos before I started my own site. I’ve managed digital content since 2016, working with some of the big names in the industry, such as Leovegas, Betsson, and Unibet (now known as Kindred).
Poker used to be my big passion. Unfortunately, when I climbed to the highest stakes, I was affected by a terrible downswing in which I lost about $700k. After a minor depression, I decided to jump back on the horse but from the operator’s point of view.
I’d like to say that I possess expertise in slots, poker, RNG auditing, and quality assurance. My approach is rooted in mathematics, guaranteeing that Casino Owls delivers precise, reliable, and transparent information. This commitment is further underlined by rigorous fact-checking and quality control.
In 2023, I was titled “Rising Star” in the Malta Content Awards, which is the first individual prize that I’ve won in my career.

Best Casino Memory?
Partying in one of Toronto’s casinos during college. One friend started the game with C$500, multiplied it by about 10x and decided to bet it all on black on roulette. We stood around the table with a few people shouting “black, black” and… he got lucky. Ahh, what a night it was!
Worst Casino Memory?
Maybe not necessarily a casino, but a poker one. I lost $700k in one session on Pokerstars cash games on tilt. It turned out to be a good experience at the end of the day, however.
